MYC Members

Now that summer is in full swing, and I wanted to take this opportunity to say how wonderful it is to see so many club members coming to and enjoying all aspects of MYC. The Marina, the house, our beautiful grounds, monthly events and, of course, our "new" swimming pool and deck. Aren't we lucky to have such a beautiful place to come and enjoy!

But, our Club does have rules that we must abide by to keep it that way, and also safe for everyone. Take a moment - pick up our club Roster and refresh yourselves with our club rules. As you do, please note the first paragraph under "Swimming Pool Rules"

One of those rules concerns our swimming pool. Children fourteen years of age and under MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian; please be within the pool deck.  See MYC Club Rules for complete list:

6. Swimming Pool Rules

"The following rules and regulations governing the use of the pool are for the benefit and protection of all those using the pool and voluntary adherence to them will increase the enjoyment of all concerned."

(b) Children fourteen years of age and under MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

(c) No glass or metal objects will be brought into the Pool area and refuse should be put into appropriate containers. Please be courteous and smoke outside the fence area only. Smoking debris will be disposed of appropriately; do not leave on ground or in grass. Violations of this safety and housekeeping rule will be reported to the Swimming Pool Committee. The committee can and will suspend the offending party's use of the Club Pool. Remember, guests are the responsibility of the member.

(h) Proper behavior in and around the pool will be the responsibility of the member and use of the pool can be suspended for individual at the discretion of the Swimming Pool Committee if proper behavior is not maintained. Running, pushing, roughness or shouting around the pool will not be permitted. No diving shall be done in the shallow area of the pool.

(k) It is important to remember that there are NO lifeguards on duty at anytime at the MYC pool. Swim at your own risk.

(l) No pets in or around the Pool area. No smoking allowed within the perimeter Pool Fence.

I would also like to remind you that our pool furniture is there for your sitting, lounging, and relaxing pleasure. It is not meant to be used as play objects for children. Please be considerate and do not use our furniture for anything other than its intended purpose. MYC offers a beautiful play scape for our children's enjoyment and the  grounds outside the pool area for other outdoor activities.

Please be diligent regarding children running around the pool area. We know they are always in a hurry, but the surface is hard and a little stumble could lead to a major accident or injury. Also, remind your children that noise travels across the water and what may seem to be a normal voice is loud and annoying to the other members at the pool.

In closing, I want to say "thank you" for your dedication, loyalty, and cooperation in assisting to keep the Middlesex Yacht Club pool a happy and safe place for one and all to enjoy.
